Methodology

Nothing here is a guess or a vibe. Every organization is scored from four declared, checkable inputs: reach — how many people it materially affects in a typical year; depth — how much a life changes; durability — how long that change lasts; and quality of evidence — whether the claim rests on audited figures and trials or on self-report. Those four produce an overall strength score, which is then distributed across the six pillars in proportion to what the organization actually does. Open any row to read the exact basis used.

Only one thing moves day to day: verified coverage in Traction. A cited result lifts the pillar it advances, then decays over thirty days — so an organization rises on new evidence and drifts back when that evidence ages while others are cited. Reach and durability estimates are deliberately conservative and are revised as better figures are published.

A fifth input, civilizational leverage, corrects the one thing headcount cannot see: how much of humanity's future capability depends on an organization existing at all. Reusable launch, advanced compute, sequencing, seed banks and open infrastructure serve modest numbers of people directly and carry everything built after them. Leverage widens effective scale and lifts the final index by up to 17.5%. Scores are then weighted by both Kalki's pillar priorities and the work the organization actually does, so focused excellence is judged on its own field rather than penalised for work it never claimed.
